Overcoming Limits: Mohamed Raishan Ahmed’s Journey in Esports Against the Odds

From PUBG Mobile Champion to Esports Mentor: How Mohamed Raishan Ahmed is Shaping the Future of Maldivian Gaming

By LENION On

Mohamed Raishan Ahmed lives with spinal muscular atrophy type 2, a condition that gradually weakens motor neurons and limits physical movement. Over the years, this has confined him to a wheelchair and steadily reduced his physical strength. Even so, he has consistently demonstrated strong discipline and capability in esports.

He began playing Dota 2 casually in 2015, but as his arm strength declined, he transitioned to mobile gaming. When PUBG Mobile was released in 2018, he joined his friend Ahmed Asham Firaz (Bezerke) and later developed into one of the most effective in-game leaders (IGLs) in the region. By 2020, he had established himself both locally and internationally, leading Team OPZ through regional competitions and earning multiple wins despite the challenges he faces as a person with disability.

After retiring from PUBG Mobile esports and leaving a mark under the name “NagluBaglu,” he shifted to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in 2021. There, he continues to excel as one of the top EXP laners in the Maldives. Beyond his own gameplay, he has trained well-known players such as Amaaneo and Bathalu, contributing significantly to the growth of Maldivian esports. His influence extends to commentary and event organization, and in 2024 he was recognized as Ooredoo Nation’s Best Caster of the Year at the Ultimate Gaming Festival.

Despite the obstacles posed by his condition, he remains active, consistent, and impactful, continuing to contribute to the community without being held back by his disability.
